The Christian Fiction Book Club

My mother participates in a Christian fiction book club. Often these books leave a little to be desired, but last month was a good one. I read A Shred of Evidence, by Kathy Herman, after the club met and enjoyed it thoroughly. The message in the book was about the destructive nature of gossip, whether it is idle, harmless gossip or serious, malicious gossip. The story was told in an exciting way. The characters were compelling and likable, with a villain any reader could recognize.
At times, I felt confused about which character was telling the story. I was unable to sit and read the book cover to cover, so coming back to a novel with multiple perspectives was not ideal. The changes in perspective were necessary for the story to play out with the varied plot lines which intersect.
Overall, I thought the book was quality Christian suspense. The characters were well crafted. The plot was plausible and the pace was great. If you like books with an overall moral message, this is a great read.
